SOFT-PLASTIC EXTRUSION MOLDING
KATSULON manufactures extrusion molds from soft and hard plastic, and is the No.1 ranked company in soft-plastic extrusion molding in Japan.
The company mainly makes custom products including door packing for trains and buses, containers, door packing waterproof packing, cushion materials, seal materials, and hoses, and uses approximately 20 materials, including PVC, nylon, fluoroplastic, and urethane. Output is approximately 250 tons/month.
The company started producing chocolate extrusions immediately after the WWU, but during the hula-hoop boom in 1955, it applied extrusion technology to producing the
hula-hoops. Since that time, the company has been a plastic extrusion manufacturer.
With conventional extrusion technology, the product can only be shaped in the longitudinal direction. The company worked on this problem for five years in order to be able to shape in the lateral direction, and as a result, can now continuously mold three-dimensional products with dimensions of 5cm(H)~60cm(W). Following this, KATSULON began selling a turf protector for turf parking. In the future the company intends to expand into wall materials, flooring materials, acoustic insulators, and other building materials; and also into construction and civil engineering materials such as concrete panels and protectors for the faces of slopes. The company plans to be listed on the stock market within ten years.@
